Encounters.ai
A hooded traveler with a lantern stands before a ruined stone arch in the mist; beyond it float glowing doorways to a lighthouse, a lantern-lit drowned market, a silver forest and a starship corridor.

A new kind of text adventure · in development

Every character
answers back.

Remember the old MUDs: rooms made of words, a blinking cursor, a world you typed your way through? Encounters is that, with one change. The characters have minds. They remember your name, hold grudges, tell lies, and change their plans because of you.

Demo · The Crossroads · hand-scripted preview

Type to explore

This demo is written by hand so you can feel the shape of it: five places, one ferrywoman with opinions, and a lamp that hasn't been lit in a long time. In the real thing, characters like her are AI entities who can say anything. Try look, north, talk to odalys, ask odalys about the lighthouse, or just say something to her.

    Characters, not chatbots

Every entity is written like a character in a novel: a history, a voice, wants and fears, things they will never tell you. The AI plays them; it does not replace them.

    A world that remembers

Insult the ferrywoman on Monday and the fare is double on Friday. Keep a promise to a ghost and its sister finds you later.

    Shared adventures

Like the old MUDs, you can adventure with friends in the same world, and the characters will gossip about all of you.

    Crafted worlds

Hand-built places with real stakes and endings, written by people, not endless generated filler.

    How would you play?

We're testing what Encounters should cost. Tap the plan you would actually pick. Nothing is charged; this tells us what to build.

Hold a place at the Crossroads

Waitlist members get the first alpha invites and a vote on which world opens first: the Silver Wood, the derelict starship, or the Drowned Market.
